Getting started, common questions and a direct line. There is no ticket system, just one email address that gets read.

Getting started

  1. 1

    Pick a goal

The first time you open KeepOtter it asks how much space you want back: 1 GB, 5 GB or everything. Your answer decides which rounds come first.

  2. 2

    Allow access to Photos

iOS asks whether the app may see your photos. With full access it can compare your whole library. With a limited selection it only sees what you hand over.

  3. 3

    Wait for the scan

The scan runs on your iPhone and shows how much storage it measured as free-able. On large libraries it takes half a minute, sometimes longer.

  4. 4

    Review the rounds

Every round shows candidates with a reason. A checkmark means it goes. Without one it stays. Only technically identical copies are ticked for you.

  5. 5

    Rescue, then delete

Under "Rescue" you find links, dates and codes from screenshots that are about to go. Save what you need. Then you confirm the deletion, and iOS asks once more.

Questions

The app only sees some of my photos.
Then it has limited access. Open Settings, then Apps, then KeepOtter, then Photos, and choose "Full Access". Without full access the app cannot spot copies across your whole library.
I deleted something I wanted to keep.
Open the Photos app, then Collections, then Utilities, then Recently Deleted. Everything stays there for 30 days and comes back with one tap.
My storage did not shrink as much as the app said.
If "Optimize iPhone Storage" is on, many originals live in iCloud and iOS decides what stays on the device. KeepOtter shows measured values only for files that are fully on your iPhone, everything else as an estimate. iOS also needs a while before the freed space shows up in Settings.
Why are some pictures greyed out and not selectable?
Those are protected: favourites, edited pictures, pictures in albums, the only shot of a day, or the only one with a location that week. KeepOtter never suggests them, not even on request.
How do I cancel KeepOtter Pro?
Open Settings, tap your name, then "Subscriptions", then KeepOtter. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current year. The one-time purchase "Pro forever" is not a subscription and needs no cancelling.
I bought Pro but the app does not show it.
Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases". Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone with iOS 26 or later.

Your iPhone can do this too

KeepOtter does not sell you anything the iPhone already does. These routes are worth knowing as well.

Merge duplicates
Photos app, then Collections, then Utilities, then Duplicates.
Recently Deleted

Storage recommendations

Optimize iCloud Photos
