Terms of use
Short and readable: what the app does, what you may do with it, how purchases work and what we can promise. Write to us if anything is unclear.
This is a translation for convenience. The German version (Nutzungsbedingungen) is the binding one.

1 What KeepOtter is
KeepOtter is an iPhone app that searches your photo library for storage: copies, series, large videos and old screenshots. It suggests and gives a reason, you decide. Nothing is deleted without your confirmation and without the extra prompt from iOS. Before that, you can save links, dates and codes out of screenshots.
2 What you may do
- Use the app for your own library, on all your devices with the same Apple Account.
- Delete the app at any time. Its data leaves the device with it; there is no account that would need closing.
- Recommend the app to others.
You may not decompile, modify, copy or redistribute the app.
3 Purchases and subscriptions
- Free
- The full analysis of your library, rescuing finds from screenshots, and deleting the first gigabyte.
- KeepOtter Pro
- All cleanup rounds without a limit, series and format twins, the care features (event review, monthly report, screenshot shelf) and the widget.
- Price per year
- €24.99. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel.
- One-time price
- €59.99. A single purchase with no expiry date.
All purchases run through Apple's App Store. The final price is shown to you in the app before you buy. Billing, withdrawal, refunds and cancellation follow Apple's terms. You cancel a subscription in the iOS Settings under "Subscriptions"; the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. There are no weekly subscriptions and no free trial that turns itself into a subscription.
4 What we cannot promise
How much storage is freed on your device depends on your library and on iOS, for example on the "Optimize iPhone Storage" setting. The app shows measured values as measured and estimates as estimated. Figures on this website come from a sample library.
Recognising copies, series and content in screenshots works from technical characteristics and can be wrong. That is why you decide before every deletion, and why deleted items stay in Recently Deleted in the Photos app for 30 days.
5 Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz). In the case of slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of material contractual obligations, and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. The app is not a substitute for backing up your photos; please keep a backup.
6 Changes
We keep developing the app. Features may be added or may change. We may adjust these terms; we will announce material changes in the app or on this page.
7 Governing law
Provider: Tobias Mattern, Berlin, Germany. German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
